For the Purpose of Saving Life
ROMANS 8:28
28 And we know that all things work together for good to them that love God, to them who are the called according to his purpose.
GENESIS 45:5-7
5 Now therefore be not grieved, nor angry with yourselves, that ye sold me hither: for God did send me before you to preserve life.
6 For these two years hath the famine been in the land: and yet there are five years, in the which there shall neither be earing nor harvest. (Earing is ploughing)
7 And God sent me before you to preserve you a posterity in the earth (Posterity is your decedents), and to save your lives by a great deliverance.
For the Purpose of Saving Life
GENESIS 45:7 (read again)
7 And God sent me before you to preserve you a posterity in the earth, and to save your lives by a great deliverance.
Posterity is your decedents, your future offspring. In other words there would have been no Jewish nation as we know it if God hadn’t “sent” Joseph to Egypt. So God was not only saving the lives of the sons of Jacobs, but if we notice, he was also saving all the millions of decedents of the 12 tribes of Israel that would come from these 12 patriarchs.
But from the human angel of observation, it wasn’t God who sent Joseph to Egypt at all, it was the terrible deed of his hate filled brothers of throwing him in a pit and selling him as a slave, but what Joseph comes to realise as the story goes on, is that it wasn’t actually his brothers, it was God, and this is what we must come to realise also – all this was done by God for the purpose of saving life. God is the author of life and the saviour of life)
Notice two things that are going on here at this time – a worldwide famine that is to last for years ahead where in millions will go hungry and lose their businesses, houses, and lands, and yet also during this time we see an elected people being preserved without the need for money.
GENESIS 42:1-4
1 ¶ Now when Jacob saw that there was corn in Egypt, Jacob said unto his sons, Why do ye look one upon another?
2 And he said, Behold, I have heard that there is corn in Egypt: get you down thither, and buy for us from thence; that we may live, and not die. (Notice that this was about buying food during a time of economic depression because the whole world was plunged into a depression because of the famine, and so their lives depended on this – but as the story goes along we find out that they didn’t actually need their money because God had prepared for this event in that Joseph was the one who would became their provider without the need for money. And so we know that this is also a prophecy for the bride of this end time age because Joseph (Christ) is on the scene again in this age, because soon there will come an economic squeeze where we won’t be able to use money to buy or sell, and that is when Christ will become our provider also)
3 And Joseph's ten brethren went down to buy corn in Egypt.
4 But Benjamin, Joseph's brother, Jacob sent not with his brethren; for he said, Lest peradventure mischief befall him.
Remember that Benjamin is a type of the 144,000 Jews at the end time; Benjamin was not present when they condemned Joseph to the pit.
GENESIS 45:4-8
4 And Joseph said unto his brethren, Come near to me, I pray you. And they came near. And he said, I am Joseph your brother, whom ye sold into Egypt.
5 Now therefore be not grieved, nor angry with yourselves, that ye sold me hither: for God did send me before you to preserve life.
6 For these two years hath the famine been in the land: and yet there are five years, in the which there shall neither be earing nor harvest.
7 And God sent me before you to preserve you a posterity in the earth, and to save your lives by a great deliverance. (In other words, by Joseph’s brothers hating Joseph, and throwing him in a pit, and selling him as a slave, and sending him to Egypt to be sold was actually a part of the plan of God’s great deliverance for them. So if God dealt like that for that family, and if he is the same yesterday, today, and forever, then we know that that is how he is also dealing with us even when everything seems wrong and messed up with our lives also – but we must also come to realise like Joseph, that it is not all the wrongs of life at all, but it is God in control all along)
8 So now it was not you that sent me hither, but God: and he hath made me a father to Pharaoh, and lord of all his house, and a ruler throughout all the land of Egypt.
**So when Joseph gets to the end of the story of his life (from the prison house to the right hand of Pharaoh), he begins to looks back on the events of his life and realises that all the “bad happenings” of his life were not bad things at all, in fact they were all working together for his good, and they were all designed by God for the purpose of saving life – and if we could only realise and understand that ourselves, all the things that happen to us that we think are so bad, but are actually purposed by God to bring about the saving of life for us and our offspring also, because God can’t act or deal any different with your life than he did with Joseph’s because he’s the same yesterday today and forever.

152-3 {234} When Joseph was taken down into the country and was rejected by his brethren because he was a spiritual man... He could see visions and interpret dreams, and when he did, he was taken down into the country and was sold for almost thirty pieces of silver.
He portrayed Christ exactly, because it was Christ's Spirit in him. Notice what happened then. And notice that when he did this, he was put in the prison, and one man was saved and the other lost: exactly Jesus when He was in prison on the cross. One thief was saved and the other one was lost. Exactly. Throwed into the grave, supposed to be dead, and was took up and ascended to the right hand of Pharaoh, that nobody could see Pharaoh without seeing Joseph first. Jesus sets at the right hand of God, and no man can come to the Father except by the Son. That's right.

153-3 {241} But notice, after that (See?), through that... When all... He'd took his bride. But when them boys came down to buy food... Oh, it's such a beautiful picture. I'm off of the Seal, but I just got to say it (See?), 'cause you'll get the picture better, I believe.
Notice. Now, when they come down to buy food, you know, Joseph recognized them right away. And Joseph was the son of prosperity; no matter where he went it always prospered. You wait till the--He comes to the earth again; wait till our Joseph comes.
Our Joseph is Christ who has made himself known to us by the revealed word of this hour, and so notice the parallel of what applies to the elected Jews also applies to the elected gentile bride – this is one of the keys that unlocks the bible to us, because how he deals with the Jews is also how he deals with his gentile bride in parallel – What was happening to Naomi was also happening to Ruth is parallel. What the seventh seal is to the bride, the seventh Trumpet is to the Jews – in both cases it is Christ revealing himself to his elect.
**We notice that this story of Joseph is placed in the book of Genesis, and we also know that what was written in the book of Genesis in seed form will also be found in the book of Revelation in harvest form.
So this entire story of the life of Joseph is also told in the book of Revelation in symbol form. So what is written in story form in Genesis is written in symbol form in the book of Revelation.
***And so when we study the life of Joseph we know that everything that happens to him in his experiences is for the purpose of saving life. And so that is revealing the nature of God of how he deals with us in the experiences of our lives.
**So when it seems like everything goes the opposite to how you think it should go, then you can be certain that God is on the job in your life, because that is the way is has always been in the scriptures concerning the elect of God.
Let’s look at some of the events of Joseph’s life, and to know that God was in every one of these events.
GENESIS 37:1-4
1 ¶ And Jacob dwelt in the land wherein his father was a stranger, in the land of Canaan.
2 These are the generations of Jacob. Joseph, being seventeen years old, was feeding the flock with his brethren; and the lad was with the sons of Bilhah, and with the sons of Zilpah, his father's wives: and Joseph brought unto his father their evil report.
3 Now Israel loved Joseph more than all his children, because he was the son of his old age: and he made him a coat of many colours.
4 And when his brethren saw that their father loved him more than all his brethren, they hated him, and could not speak peaceably unto him.
Notice that this story begins by setting the scene of Joseph’s brothers hatred for Joseph, and it seemed that they had a good enough reason to hate him because firstly he told their dad about all the bad things they got up to in secret, and then on top of that, Jacob happened to love Joseph more than he loved them, and then Jacob made Joseph a coat of many colours, (three things), and so that made them all jealous, and they ended up hating him because of all these things – that is just the human nature that we are all born with, that is why we need to be born again with another nature – the nature of God.
**So we notice that even though there were bad family forces at work against Joseph, God was actually in all of this because this background hatred of his brothers was necessary in order for all the other events that followed so that God could bring about all the events of his life for the purpose of saving them and their offspring.
***If this family situation hadn’t been this way, then the rest of the story and events could never have taken place – it’s a paradox.
GENESIS 37:23-28
23 ¶ And it came to pass, when Joseph was come unto his brethren, that they stript Joseph out of his coat, his coat of many colours that was on him;
24 And they took him, and cast him into a pit: and the pit was empty, there was no water in it.
25 And they sat down to eat bread: and they lifted up their eyes and looked, and, behold, a company of Ishmeelites came from Gilead with their camels bearing spicery and balm and myrrh, going to carry it down to Egypt.
26 And Judah said unto his brethren, What profit is it if we slay our brother, and conceal his blood?
27 Come, and let us sell him to the Ishmeelites, and let not our hand be upon him; for he is our brother and our flesh. And his brethren were content.
28 Then there passed by Midianites merchantmen; and they drew and lifted up Joseph out of the pit, and sold Joseph to the Ishmeelites for twenty pieces of silver: and they brought Joseph into Egypt.
GENESIS 37:31-35
31 ¶ And they took Joseph's coat, and killed a kid of the goats, and dipped the coat in the blood;
32 And they sent the coat of many colours, and they brought it to their father; and said, This have we found: know now whether it be thy son's coat or no.
33 And he knew it, and said, It is my son's coat; an evil beast hath devoured him; Joseph is without doubt rent in pieces.
34 And Jacob rent his clothes, and put sackcloth upon his loins, and mourned for his son many days.
35 And all his sons and all his daughters rose up to comfort him; but he refused to be comforted; and he said, For I will go down into the grave unto my son mourning. Thus his father wept for him.
GENESIS 39:11-16
11 And it came to pass about this time, that Joseph went into the house to do his business; and there was none of the men of the house there within.
12 And she caught him by his garment, saying, Lie with me: and he left his garment in her hand, and fled, and got him out.
13 ¶ And it came to pass, when she saw that he had left his garment in her hand, and was fled forth,
14 That she called unto the men of her house, and spake unto them, saying, See, he hath brought in an Hebrew unto us to mock us; he came in unto me to lie with me, and I cried with a loud voice:
15 And it came to pass, when he heard that I lifted up my voice and cried, that he left his garment with me, and fled, and got him out.
16 And she laid up his garment by her, until his lord came home.
Notice how it was a woman that caused Joseph to fall from a position of power and dominion all the way down to the prison house, this parallels what Eve did to the human race when Adam fell from a position of prosperity and power and dominion under God to a prison house of this fallen world.
Look at all these events in Joseph’s life, it all looks like a lot of bad luck, but there was no bad luck about this at all, this was 100% the providence of God for the purpose of saving life at the end.
What we often consider are our battles and defeats in life are actually the providence of God to bring about a great victory at the end.

139 It seems like, the Christian life, if the fellow is not absolutely centered on Christ, the Christian life, seems like, holds so many disappointments. But those disappointments are--are God's Divine will happening for us. Now, it don't seem like it would be that, but it's God's way of doing things. He lets us hit the river, to see what we'll do.
150 God lets disappointments happen, to show victory. Oh, if we could only see that! See? You'd only see that these things that seems to be so burring you, and upsetting you, they are trials. They are things, to stand still, focus your glasses on the Word of God. And speak the Word, and then just walk forward. That's all there is to do it.
151 We get to a time, we say, "God, I don't know what to do. I'm up against it."
152 Speak the word, "Lord, I believe." And just start walking forward. God does the opening up of the sea. You just keep walking. See?

*In studying on the Feast of Trumpets and the life of Joseph, we find that the life of Joseph in Genesis is also patterned in Leviticus 23 in the Jewish Feasts, and also in the book of Revelation, in fact the life of Joseph is written throughout the whole book of Revelation in symbol form.
*Joseph represented perfection (election in Abraham; justification in Isaac; grace in Jacob; and perfection in Joseph), and so the entire mystery of God was revealed in the life of Joseph. What was in Genesis in story form is also found in Revelation in symbol form.
*** Because the feast of the Passover represented Joseph in prison where one die and one live, this was represented with Christ on the cross where one thief was saved and the other lost. And the feast of the Unleavened Bread was where His body was broken, a type of Christ’s death. Those two feasts (Passover and Unleavened bread) represent Christ’s death.
Then Joseph came out of the prison and went to the right hand of Pharaoh representing the resurrection of Christ which is the feast of the First fruits taking place after Christ came out of the earth.
Then after the feast of the first fruits is the Feast of Pentecost, representing the Seven Gentile Church Ages where Jesus gets a Gentile wife. Joseph also got a Gentile bride after he ascended on the right hand of Pharaoh.
Then after that, Joseph’s brothers were gathered together, because the feast that follows the feast of Pentecost is the Feast of Trumpets, and the Feast of Trumpets is to gather the Jews back together.
And notice - Joseph brothers were gathered together in a time of economic depression, and in this day it was the Second World War that ran them back to their homeland, a time of economic depression (the second woe and sixth Trumpet).
Then the next thing after that was Joseph making himself known to his brethren, because after the feast of Trumpets is The Day of Atonement, which is Joseph revealing himself to his brothers which is Jesus making Himself know to the 144,000 Jews – and notice that he revealed himself to them by his word “I am Joseph”
And then comes the Feast of Tabernacles which was Joseph with his gentile bride and his Jewish brothers in the land where everything prospered again.
