The Unconditional Covenant of God
I JOHN 2:1-2
1 ¶ My little children, these things write I unto you, that ye sin not (If we looked back into what John had just written in the previous chapter of what he called “these things”, he is talking about walking in the light and having true fellowship with God, and this is why psychology is not the answer for overcoming our sin, but fellowship with God is). And if any man sin, we have an advocate with the Father, Jesus Christ the righteous: (Often we are trying to overcome sin with the wrong motive behind it – and that motive is that we think our acceptance with God is based on how righteous we are able to live our lives (by our good living). This is an underlying subconscious trait of humanity)
2 And he is the propitiation for our sins (This word “propitiation” means appeasement, and appeasement means to satisfy. Christ satisfied God’s justice - He settled the account in full. Of course we try and live good lives, but the reality is that our good living could have never appeased the justice of God or taken away our condition of sin – only the blood of the lamb could do that): and not for ours only, but also for the sins of the whole world.
(Notice here – Christ not only settled our sin account in full so that we could walk again in perfect fellowship with Him, but he also settled the account for the sins of the whole world - how do we know this, because the bible tells us that - “and not for ours only, but also for the sins of the whole world”, this can be hard for us to grasp. But we know this to be true because by one man (Adam) sin entered into the whole world, it contaminated every human being that would be born into the world - but then also by one man (Jesus Christ) the entire sin problem of the world was settled and done away with by the penalty of the debt of sin being fully paid.)
ROMANS 5:12
12 Wherefore, as by one man sin entered into the world, and death by sin; and so death passed upon all men, for that all have sinned:
ROMANS 5:15
15 But not as the offence, so also is the free gift. For if through the offence of one many be dead, much more the grace of God (Notice “much more”, in other words, the eradication of sin is much more powerful in Christ than what Adam’s disobedience had caused), and the gift by grace, which is by one man, Jesus Christ, hath abounded unto many.
Notice - The gift of grace which is by one man – Jesus Christ.
The Unconditional Covenant of God
We want to connect this subject to our last study on “The Suffering of Uncertainty” that we have been looking at over the last 4 weeks, but we are now wanting to take a little turn in the road to see where the Lord will lead us along this new “hunting trail”, and trusting that it will take us into a greater unfolding of the unveiling of Christ.
**We know that the Seals are to do with the revealing of redemption while the vials are to do with God’s judgments that are to be poured out upon the earth. *God’s redemption and His judgment are divine, because God is both a divine saviour and redeemer, and He is also a divine judge.
*And so we realise that there had to first exist the justice and the judgement of God, because without justice and judgement, the mercy and grace of God could never have been understood or manifested.
*And so all the way through the bible we see where redemption and judgment are placed together.
*In the days of Noah, we see mercy and judgement side by side together (seals and vials – if you will). And we found that those who believed Noah’s message were taken above the judgment and brought over into the new world while at the same time the judgments were falling on the others who had failed to respond to that message – and so there are our seals and vials again in Noah’s day.
*In the days of Sodom, Abraham received redemption (a change of body) while Sodom was being judged – we have preached on that many times.
*Then in Egypt, there was peace in Goshen while the land of Egypt was being filled up with the plagues.
** Then we see that Rahab was under the blood that was represented by the scarlet cord in her window while the judgment fell on Jericho.
*Then in our story of the gentile widow woman of Zarephath – she was enjoying food and provision under the ministry of Elijah while everyone else was suffering under judgment.
*In the time of Ezekiel 9, God first sealed up the elect and then the slaughtering angels came and destroyed those that were not marked.
*In the time of when Titus came and besieged Jerusalem in AD70, the Holy Spirit came down and first sealed the elect of God by the revelation of what Jesus had warned them about so that they were able to escape that judgment.
LUKE 21:20-22
20 ¶ And when ye shall see Jerusalem compassed with armies, then know that the desolation thereof is nigh.
21 Then let them which are in Judaea flee to the mountains; and let them which are in the midst of it depart out; and let not them that are in the countries enter thereinto.
22 For these be the days of vengeance, that all things which are written may be fulfilled.
And so all these events from Noah’s day and all the way down to this day, they all speak of this great hour – because in the bible, it said that “as it was in the days of Noah, so shall it be in the day when the son of man is revealed” And we know that we are living in that time right now. And so all of those things were written for this hour of harvest time, because everything that was written in the bible in seed form becomes fully manifested at harvest time which is the time that we are living in right now in 2026.
*And so we are in the time of the opening of the seven seals that is revealing those who are to be taken over the judgements of this time, and also the time of when the vials of the judgements of God are about to be poured out upon the earth.
*We know that God is not only the great avenger and judge, but that He is also the great redeemer of which His real character always defaults to - toward His mercy and grace. Because His mercy endureth forever.
**And this is why we find that His justice had to first be met (of which that complete judgement was met in Christ) in order so that His great redemptive attributes of mercy could be manifested.
*But when we think of the judgement of God, God has always provided and made a way of escape and redemption. Even with Cain – God made a way for him to escape.
*From the very beginning in Eden of when God came down and placed Adam and Eve under their separate curses of judgement, and yet at the same time He slaughtered a lamb and covered them with the blood of that lamb, showing them that the same one that judged them would also be the same one that would take the penalty of their judgment upon Himself and make a way to redeem them back to Himself.
**There are two types of Judgements of which is penal judgement and remedial judgement.
Penal judgement is pertaining to punishment – it is the root word for penalty.
*Penal judgment is when the legal punishment for breaking God's law is carried out the penalty of that judgement – and that was the judgement that Christ took upon Himself on behalf of humanity, but then there is remedial judgment, which is like a fatherly discipline that God deals with us by in our earthly journey.
And this remedial judgement of God is for the purpose of remedying our mistakes like a good father that disciplines his children - it’s a chastening for the purpose of bring correction and healing.
And so it is very important that we understand the difference between these two judgments.
**We have taught many times on the subject of Sinner, Son, and Servant, how that these are three different relationships judgements that we relate to God by.
As our relationship to God as a sinner, Christ paid the full price of our judgement for us at Calvary, and so that judgement is passed, it is now historical, and so God cannot possibly judge us as sinners anymore, because He has already completed that judgement in Christ.
And this is what our opening scripture is dealing with.
I JOHN 2:2
2 And he is the propitiation for our sins: and not for ours only, but also for the sins of the whole world.
And so the judgement of all of our sins has already been fully paid for by Christ. But then in our relationship as sons of God in this life as we go along throughout our journey of life, God will deal with us throughout our lives in discipline (as a father would) for the purpose of correcting our mistakes because He wants the best for His children.
HEBREWS 12:6-7
6 For whom the Lord loveth he chasteneth, and scourgeth every son whom he receiveth.
7 If ye endure chastening, God dealeth with you as with sons; for what son is he whom the father chasteneth not?
This is why that we will pay for our mistakes that we commit in this life during this life. In other words, the mistakes that you make in this life – you will pay for those mistakes in this life.
*The apostle Paul suffered greatly during his span of life because of how he had mistreated the brethren.
*When sister Coats died instantly in a car crash – Brother Branham said that she didn't have to suffer because there must have been nothing left against her here to have to suffer for.

13 Our Heavenly Father, we thank Thee for the memories of Sister Coats. What a precious, dear sister! And now time comes that when we live out our span in life, that's been lotted to us, we must cross the river. We thank Thee because that she did not have to suffer. There must not been anything against her here, that she had to suffer for. She just went straight into the arms of God, just in a moment.
No doubt sister Coats would have suffered things during her life time as we all do, but this quote here is dealing with her remedial judgement.
But now all judgement has passed for sister Coats – both her penal judgement of which Christ took for her on her behalf as Calvary, and also remedial (corrective) judgement of which she had to suffer during this lifetime.
Because as we have said, what you sow here in this life you will also reap in this life, because that is a law of God, and none of us will get out of that.
GALATIANS 6:7
7 Be not deceived; God is not mocked: for whatsoever a man soweth, that shall he also reap.
*When we think of how that Adam and Eve were placed into the most beautiful garden of the world, and of how that world was perfect in every way of its creation.
There was no sorrow or any pain or sickness or sadness in that world - it was just perfection plus perfection.
*Adam and Eve had never known what it was like to feel sad or depressed, nor had they ever had to worry about anything, but it was just a constant joy and bliss of their unending wonder at all the beauty of God’s great creation.
*And then on top of all of that unspeakable joy of life and eternal bliss, they had a perfect fellowship with God that totally satisfied their souls.
*And that is why that only Christ can meet that full satisfaction of the human heart, because God made the spirit of man in such a way that only true fellowship with God would be able to satisfy the soul of man to its full depth.
*And so while they were in this condition of perfection and bliss and perfect contentment, they were given just one rule to keep – do not eat from the tree of the knowledge of reasoning against the word of God, and yet under those perfect conditions, they couldn’t even keep that one restriction that God had given for them to keep.
THE.CALLING.OF.ABRAHAM_ SAN.FERNANDO.CA WEDNESDAY_ 55-1116
E-17 Now, that's the background, a good background for what we're going to talk on for a few moments with Abraham. Now, God in the beginning in the garden of Eden, He made a covenant between Him and Adam. And Adam broke his covenant. Now, man always breaks his covenant with God, but God never breaks His covenant with man.
*And so from the fall of Eden, God knew that He could not rely on man’s self-ability to keep his side of any covenant that God might make with man.
**And this has also been proven over and over again down throughout the entire bible.
*Look how Moses failed God, look how Sampson failed God, look how David and Solomon failed God, and even Abraham and Isaac and Jacob, they all failed God in some way.
***Every human being that has ever been born since Eden has failed God, and so there was no way that God could have ever included man in any sort of conditional covenant with Himself, why? because he knew that man could simply not keep his side of the conditions of the contract.
