Osmosis by Association
PROVERBS 22:24-25
24 ¶ Make no friendship with an angry man; and with a furious man thou shalt not go:
25 Lest thou learn his ways, and get a snare to thy soul.
Notice – a snare to the soul comes by associating with people of bad character because it is by association that you learn the ways of another.
I CORINTHIANS 15:33
33 Be not deceived: evil communications corrupt good manners.
Osmosis by Association
- Picking up from the message “The Subconscious Realm” from a couple of weeks back…
Man was made by God to associate and to have fellowship with one another in peace and love – divine love.
God made man to first have fellowship with himself as his children, and then to also have fellowship with one another – but it was unbelief of the word that cause the fellowship between God and man to be broken because God and man could not have fellowship while man was in unbelief and disagreement with God (how can two walk together unless they first be in agreement; AMOS 3:3 Can two walk together, except they be agreed?), disagreement brings separation and divorce just as it takes agreement to bring about a marriage.

E-21 …Then we, in fellowship, what Adam lost in the fall, Christ restored in His death. (Do you believe that?) to bring man back into fellowship with God.
**The desire for Fellowship is something that God has put deep down within each of us at the very core of our human spirits, and that desire can only be truly meet by social association and fellowship with God and with others – it’s a thirst that’s within you.
Why do you think we have all the social media platforms that we have today? Because God made man for fellowship, and that is why man has a desire for fellowship.
That is why we have Facebook and Twitter and Instagram, Snapchat, Telegram, and dozens more and they produce millions of dollars in revenue all because of the need people have for social connections and fellowship with one another.
Opening scripture:
I CORINTHIANS 15:33
33 Be not deceived: evil communications corrupt good manners.
Another translation says: Do not be deceived: “Bad company corrupts good character.”
I CORINTHIANS 15:33
33 Be not deceived: evil communications corrupt good manners. In other words, bad company will also lead you into a state of deception.
This word “Communications” = to be in company with; to associate with; to stay with; hence to converse with, talk about: with one – in other words, fellowship and association with the wrong people who are of a character that opposes the word of God.
***So to be in the wrong company will slowly cause you to go into a state of deception, and deception does not end in blessing.
Be not deceived – this word “deceived” = Greek word “planao” = to lead astray (Be not led astray by associating with bad characters), lead aside from the right way, to lead away from the truth, to lead into error; to be led aside from the path of virtue, to go astray, to sever or fall away from the truth: to be led away into error and sin
**Wrong association leads a person into deception – you are simply not strong enough to withstand that effect.

E-6 Samson got into bad company. And you always can remember that when you are in bad company, you are out of the will of the Lord. My own southern mammy used to tell me, "If you lay down with a dog that's got fleas, you'll get up with the fleas." That's rather a rude expression, but it's got a lot of common, everyday sense to it. You just can't associate yourself with the things of the world and except--and expect to stay spiritual and humble before the Lord. You're known by your company. There's an old saying, "Show me your company, I'll tell you who you are."
And when the church begins to keep company with the world, then it's no more than the world. It gets out of the fellowship of the Holy Spirit, gets out of the company of God, and of angels, and of God's heritage, when it begins to flirt as Samson did.
Samson’s company with Delilah led him into sin and deception and it did not end well.
***Much of the way we conduct our everyday lives comes from what has already been programed into us by the force of habit, by the repetition of things, by seeing and doing the same things over and over, and that often first comes about by the influence that we have received from the subconscious observation of others that we associate with in our families and friends and also by the culture that we live in.
And that is why receiving a new knowledge from the bible of how we should live won’t immediately change the way you live, because you don’t primarily live and act from your surface knowledge, we live and act primarily from the source of our beliefs and habits which lie in our subconscious realm – faith is in this subconscious realm, and we operate by what we ultimately believe.
ROMANS 10:17
17 So then faith cometh by hearing, and hearing by the word of God. If we are not putting the word in, then the faith of God cannot come into us.
**You can learn a new thought in church of how to live your life, but your habits will force you back to your old ways soon enough because it is a stronger force than the new thought that you had just learned in church – that is why the new birth is a new thought revealed by God in the subconscious realm, it is the revelation of the word in your soul, and you grow from that new birth of the word that is revealed to you.
II PETER 3:17
18 But grow in grace, and in the knowledge of our Lord and Saviour Jesus Christ. To him be glory both now and for ever. Amen.
***Much of what we learn, we learn it unconsciously by osmosis – by association.
This is why the culture you are raised in is not taught to you like school lessons in a classroom, you pick up the ways and beliefs of the culture that you live in subconsciously by being surrounded and associated with it.
***Osmosis is about how we learn by observing and by being exposed to any certain given environment of the ways that people live and without even being consciously aware that we are learning things and being programed both within our conscious and subconscious mind. We are unconsciously forming habits and opinions and beliefs just by the association of who we are associating with.
And so it is from this subconscious level by the opinions and habits that we have formed by our associations in life and also from influence of our nature that has been passed down to us from our ancestry, this is the core of where we will respond and act because whatever has been programed into us will come out of us, especially under the pressure of crisis.
II TIMOTHY 1:5 When I call to remembrance the unfeigned faith that is in thee, which dwelt first in thy grandmother Lois, and thy mother Eunice; and I am persuaded that in thee also. Timothy was influenced by the faith that was passed down from his grandmother to his mother and then to him.
So influence can be used for good or for bad – God intended it to be used for our good, but Satan perverts it and uses it for bad.
ACTS 4:13
13 Now when they saw the boldness of Peter and John, and perceived that they were unlearned and ignorant men, they marvelled; and they took knowledge of them, that they had been with Jesus.
***The conscious mind can quite easily override and temporarily side step the sub consciousness mind when it takes a conscious control. We learn how to behave ourselves in different environments to please the crowd or situation at the time, and sometimes different environments do require a different level of manors, and so that is not always a bad thing, sometimes you need to be on your best behaviour that overrides your not so best behaviour.
**But we know that Con men trick people into believing they are of a certain character that can be trusted when in fact they are not – in fact many people present a character to you from their conscious minds that is actually not what their true character is at all.
- (Heard of a test when young people thought they were in love to test them by getting them to put up a complicated tent together – normally their true character will come out – it is under pressure that what we really are comes out)

26 Now, this young fellow, Uzziah, was the king. But before he become king... He was a king during the reign of Isaiah, the prophet. And he was a shepherd boy; he liked the outdoors. He was a great influence on--on Isaiah's life. Isaiah was a young fellow, also, just a young prophet. And you read the story, if you want to take Second Chronicles 26, it'll tell you. How that at the age of sixteen, after the death of his righteous father, he became... they taken him and made him king over Israel. At the age of sixteen he began to reign. And he had seen the influence of his parents; his mother was a godly woman, and his father was a godly man, before him. And, in that, it put the influence in the child to do that which was right.
27 I tell you. I think, today, we have such a juvenile crime wave across the nation, but, really, I think it started in the home. I--I think the parents began to let go. And if the child had been raised up in a good, old-fashion, godly home; I don't say it would be all over, certainly not, but it would certainly give that child the right kind of influence. I think, many times, that, homes that children has been brought up wrong, turned loose on the street, and just lived for themself while the mother stays in a barroom, or the... and the father, and so forth. They don't take care of this child. Another thing, they don't love it and give it the affections, to take it up. It's young. You've got to teach it to love and respect, and to read the Bible.

130 Notice, he knew It was there. He believed in It and wanted It (speaking of eternal life). But when he was confronted with how he had to do it, it was different from his ritual. It was different. He could hold his money and belong on to the church that he belonged to, and so forth. But Jesus knew that, and knew that he had hoarded this money (it wasn’t the money, it was a hoarding spirit that Jesus knew would one day cause him to end up in hell – and what put that spirit in him was by osmosis from his associates, his association had cause him to become that way), and He said, "Go sell all you got, and give it to the poor. And come, take up your cross and follow Me, and you'll have treasures in Heaven." But he couldn't do it.
131 The other leaders that he had in his youthful days, had such an influence on him till he refused to accept God's provided Way, which was Jesus Christ; the only One who holds Eternal Life, the only One that can give you It. Not the church can give you Eternal Life; not your neighbor; not your pastor; not your priest; not your creed; only Jesus Christ Himself can give you Eternal Life.
PROVERBS 22:24-25 opening scripture

Notice again – a snare to the soul begins by associating with bad character, this scripture is talking about osmosis - it is by association that you will unconsciously learn the ways of others.
**That is why Hollywood has brought such an influence by osmosis that has change the morals and the character of the entire world by people associating their lives (by the way of television) with the lives of people with bad character – they have learnt their ways by observation and by osmosis.
GENESIS 3:6
6 ¶ And when the woman saw that the tree was good for food, and that it was pleasant to the eyes, and a tree to be desired to make one wise
***Eve associated with the serpent through the medium of tele-vision (voices and sight), and it was by that influence that it affected and changed her thinking in her subconscious realm, it caused her to come into disagreement with God because she now had a different opinion of things than that of God’s opinion, and so she became in opposition to the thoughts and ideas of God.
**If your thinking is in any way different to the thought of God, then you are in a state of deception - so we can see that Eve was led into deception by her association with the serpent through tele–vision and by osmosis.
GENESIS 3:6
6 ¶ And when the woman saw that the tree was good for food (this was spiritual food and not natural food. Eve felt that she could have a really good social time by the way of this new social media app that she had found on the internet – it was pleasant to the eyes), and that it was pleasant to the eyes, and a tree to be desired to make one wise (this is to do with wisdom and knowledge, people love to get more knowledge, even if it just about gossip. You don’t go to university to eat apples, you go to be lectured at by someone that is there to teach you – so this fruit was a teaching, and that teaching came by association and by words that were spoken), she took of the fruit thereof, and did eat, and gave also unto her husband with her; and he did eat.
EPHESIANS 5:25-27
25 Husbands, love your wives, even as Christ also loved the church, and gave himself for it; (this scripture is also talking about influence, because Christ by his love for the church is what has caused us to be drawn and attracted towards him so that we can be influenced by the word of his truth – people are attracted by love, and that brings an association that then becomes an influence by words)
26 That he might sanctify and cleanse it with the washing of water by the word, (It is the word of God that washes us in the spirit of our subconscious realm by our association with the word)
27 That he might present it to himself a glorious church, not having spot, or wrinkle, or any such thing; but that it should be holy and without blemish.
This is not talking about sinless perfection where in you’ll never make a mistake; this is talking about your motives deep down have been washed by the word of God and you have become pure in your motive toward God and your fellow man in every way.

272 Your first wedding was annulled (that was that first nature that you became by your association by how you were influence by the world). It was. You never done it, in the first place. Because, there's only one thing could do it, that would be God come down, Himself, and took your place in a form of the Son of God, Jesus Christ, and washed you by the Water, of the washing of the Water by the Word. The Word; not the denomination! The Word washed you. But if you won't stand in the Water of the Word, how you going to be washed? You're still as spotted as Eve was.
***Osmosis by Association – we want to make sure that we associate with this word that has come to us in this hour (the truth shall make your free), and we want to associate with the people of God who are real believers of this word also, and by this influence we will receive the right spirit within us, and that spirit of the truth of the word will wash away all the unbelief of the wrong thinking out of the subconscious realm so we can get into something that is real, the real character of Christ within us.
***That is why this message has gathered us together, to be associated with those of likeminded faith.
