1 ¶ Praise ye the LORD. Praise God in his sanctuary: praise him in the firmament of his power.
2 Praise him for his mighty acts: praise him according to his excellent greatness.
3 Praise him with the sound of the trumpet: praise him with the psaltery and harp.
4 Praise him with the timbrel (Tambourines) and dance: praise him with stringed instruments and organs.

COLOSSIANS 3:16
16 Let the word of Christ dwell in you richly in all wisdom; teaching and admonishing (exhorting) one another in psalms and hymns and spiritual songs, singing with grace in your hearts to the Lord.
EPHESIANS 5:19
19 Speaking to yourselves in psalms and hymns and spiritual songs, singing and making melody in your heart to the Lord;
We are living in the time of the greatest battle ever fought.
Music is often used as a part of warfare; it often proceeds the fighting in battles. Songs inspire the solders and can also put fear in the heart of the enemy.
II CHRONICLES 20:1-3
1 ¶ It came to pass after this also, that the children of Moab, and the children of Ammon, and with them other beside the Ammonites, came against Jehoshaphat to battle.
2 Then there came some that told Jehoshaphat, saying, There cometh a great multitude against thee from beyond the sea on this side Syria; and, behold, they be in Hazazontamar, which is Engedi.
3 And Jehoshaphat feared, and set himself to seek the LORD, and proclaimed a fast throughout all Judah.

II CHRONICLES 20:20-30
20 ¶ And they rose early in the morning, and went forth into the wilderness of Tekoa: and as they went forth, Jehoshaphat stood and said, Hear me, O Judah, and ye inhabitants of Jerusalem; Believe in the LORD your God, so shall ye be established; believe his prophets, so shall ye prosper.
21 And when he had consulted with the people, he appointed singers unto the LORD, and that should praise the beauty of holiness, as they went out before the army, and to say, Praise the LORD; for his mercy endureth for ever.
22 And when they began to sing and to praise, the LORD set ambushments against the children of Ammon, Moab, and mount Seir, which were come against Judah; and they were smitten.
23 For the children of Ammon and Moab stood up against the inhabitants of mount Seir, utterly to slay and destroy them: and when they had made an end of the inhabitants of Seir, every one helped to destroy another.
24 And when Judah came toward the watch tower in the wilderness, they looked unto the multitude, and, behold, they were dead bodies fallen to the earth, and none escaped.
(Look at the victory that followed the singers that praised the Lord and also the blessing that followed the victory)
25 And when Jehoshaphat and his people came to take away the spoil of them, they found among them in abundance both riches with the dead bodies, and precious jewels, which they stripped off for themselves, more than they could carry away: and they were three days in gathering of the spoil, it was so much. (Notice that financial blessing followed after the singing of the praises of God. If financial blessing follows the right singing, it is no wonder why this world is financially ruined after all the evil music that is associated with this last generation)
26 And on the fourth day they assembled themselves in the valley of Berachah; for there they blessed the LORD: therefore the name of the same place was called, The valley of Berachah, unto this day.
27 Then they returned, every man of Judah and Jerusalem, and Jehoshaphat in the forefront of them, to go again to Jerusalem with joy; for the LORD had made them to rejoice over their enemies.
28 And they came to Jerusalem with psalteries and harps and trumpets unto the house of the LORD.
29 And the fear of God was on all the kingdoms of those countries, when they had heard that the LORD fought against the enemies of Israel.
30 So the realm of Jehoshaphat was quiet: for his God gave him rest round about.
ACTS 16:22-26 Story of Paul and Silas in the prison house
22 And the multitude rose up together against them: and the magistrates rent off their clothes, and commanded to beat them.
23 And when they had laid many stripes upon them, they cast them into prison, charging the jailor to keep them safely:
24 Who, having received such a charge, thrust them into the inner prison, and made their feet fast in the stocks.
25 ¶ And at midnight Paul and Silas prayed, and sang praises unto God: and the prisoners heard them.
26 And suddenly there was a great earthquake, so that the foundations of the prison were shaken: and immediately all the doors were opened, and every one's bands were loosed.

Music is an inherent part of every society, and the Bible speaks much about it; in fact the longest book in the Bible is its song book—Psalms.
Psalms accounts for over 7 percent of the Old Testament. In addition to the Psalms are other song and poetry-focused books such as the Song of Solomon, Ecclesiastes, and others. In the New Testament, we have song lyrics recorded in Revelation 5, 7, and 15; the mention of Jesus and the disciples singing in Matthew 26:30; and the example of the apostle’s singing in Acts 16:25.
Many people also consider Mary’s in Luke 1:46–55 and the angels’ announcement in Luke 2:14 to be songs. The church is commanded to communicate with each other “with psalms, hymns, and songs from the Spirit, “Singing and making melody in your heart to the Lord;” (Ephesians 5:19).
The first reference to a musician in the Bible is in Genesis 4:21. Jubal was the fourth generation from Adam through Cain and is recorded as “he was the father of all such as handle the harp and organ.”
Other early references to music include Exodus 15, which records Moses and the Israelites sang a song of victory after the overthrow of the Egyptian army at the Red Sea. At that time, Moses’ sister, Miriam, led the Israelite women “with timbrels (tambourines) and dancing” as she sang.
When Jephthah returned from battle, Jephthah’s daughter met him with timbrels and dance in Judges 11:34.
David’s victories were also celebrated in song in 1 Samuel 18:6–7.
Two of the Old Testament’s most important figures wrote songs: Moses and David. Moses has three songs recorded in the Bible - the song sung after the destruction of Pharaoh’s army (Exodus 15:1–18); A song recounting the faithfulness of God and the rebelliousness of Israel, which he spoke before all the people of Israel just before his death (Deuteronomy 32:1–43); and a prayer recorded in Psalm 90.
David, “the sweet psalmist of Israel” (2 Samuel 23:1), is credited with writing about half of the 150 songs recorded in Psalms, along with some in the historical books. He was the official musician in Saul’s court (1 Samuel 16:14–23).
During David’s own reign, he organized the Levitical musicians, and 1 Chronicles 15:16 and 23:5 record that more than one in ten Levites in temple service were musicians.
Other musicians include Asaph (twelve psalms), the sons of Korah (ten psalms), Solomon (two psalms and 1,005 other songs [1 Kings 4:32] and the Song of Solomon), Heman (one psalm), and Ethan (one psalm).
Music was used in conjunction with all manner of activities (Genesis 31:27; Exodus 32:17–18; Numbers 27:17; Judges 11:34, 35; Isaiah 16:10; Jeremiah 48:33). Music was used at coronations (1 Kings 1:39–40; 2 Kings 11:14; 2 Chronicles 13:14; 20:28), events in the royal court (2 Samuel 19:35; Ecclesiastes 2:8), and feasts (Isaiah 5:12; 24:8–9).
It is interesting to note the connection between music and the supernatural: trumpets sounded when the walls of Jericho fell down (Joshua 6:1–20); and David played his harp to soothe Saul during his demonic oppression (1 Samuel 16:14–23).
Two of the Gospels mention the fact that Jesus and His disciples sang a hymn at the end of the Last Supper (Matthew 26:30 and Mark 14:26). Elsewhere in the Gospels, music is seen as part of mourning (Matthew 9:23) and celebration (Luke 15:25).
Paul gave instructions regarding the use of music during Christian gatherings in Ephesians 5:19 and Colossians 3:16. In Ephesians we see that addressing each other with hymns and songs is an indication of being Spirit-filled. In Colossians the same is an indication of being filled with the Word of Christ, and the songs come “from the Spirit.”
In James 5:13 we have this command: “Is any merry? let him sing psalms.”
I SAMUEL 16:14-23
14 ¶ But the Spirit of the LORD departed from Saul, and an evil spirit from the LORD troubled him. (Why was it from the Lord? – Because all spirits good or evil have to get permission from the Lord before they can go and do their job, because all things in heaven have to obey the Lord – “thy will be done on earth as it is done in heaven”. In I KINGS 22:20 And the LORD said, Who shall persuade Ahab, that he may go up and fall at Ramothgilead? And one said on this manner, and another said on that manner.
21 And there came forth a spirit, and stood before the LORD, and said, I will persuade him.
22 And the LORD said unto him, Wherewith? And he said, I will go forth, and I will be a lying spirit in the mouth of all his prophets. And he said, Thou shalt persuade him, and prevail also: go forth, and do so.
23 Now therefore, behold, the LORD hath put a lying spirit in the mouth of all these thy prophets, and the LORD hath spoken evil concerning thee.
Every spirit good or evil is in complete subject to the Lords permission. Remember that Satan had to get permission from God before he could do what he did to Job – so it must be the same thing for you and me)
15 And Saul's servants said unto him, Behold now, an evil spirit from God troubleth thee.
16 Let our lord now command thy servants, which are before thee, to seek out a man, who is a cunning player on an harp: and it shall come to pass, when the evil spirit from God is upon thee, that he shall play with his hand, and thou shalt be well.
17 And Saul said unto his servants, Provide me now a man that can play well, and bring him to me.
18 Then answered one of the servants, and said, Behold, I have seen a son of Jesse the Bethlehemite, that is cunning in playing, and a mighty valiant man, and a man of war, and prudent in matters, and a comely person, and the LORD is with him.
19 Wherefore Saul sent messengers unto Jesse, and said, Send me David thy son, which is with the sheep.
20 And Jesse took an ass laden with bread, and a bottle of wine, and a kid, and sent them by David his son unto Saul.
21 And David came to Saul, and stood before him: and he loved him greatly; and he became his armourbearer.
22 And Saul sent to Jesse, saying, Let David, I pray thee, stand before me; for he hath found favour in my sight.
23 And it came to pass, when the evil spirit from God was upon Saul, that David took an harp, and played with his hand: so Saul was refreshed, and was well, and the evil spirit departed from him.
*Spirits are affected by Words and Music.
**Holy Ghost inspired words and music can bring healing, it can drive away evil spirits from people, but rock and roll and pop music can actually cause the Holy Spirit to leave a person and bring an evil spirit to trouble them.

E-19 They went on back down, and the Spirit departed from Saul. He'd backslid and went so far away from God until the Spirit had left him, and a evil spirit took His place, come on Saul. And Saul was all moody and in a bad humor, and--and kicking things around, all out of sorts like some people gets on Monday morning. So they--he was out of sorts all the time. Did you know that's a evil spirit? That's exactly.
So they didn't... The doctors couldn't do him any good. They had a lot of doctors down there, but they couldn't help that, because it was a spiritual condition. So one of the men had passed around and seen a few places, they said, "Well, we know where there's a Divine healer at."
"Why, who would that be?"
Said, "Jesse's got a son back out there, he..." Yeah, he's a Divine healer. Sure he was. He healed by music. Amen. That's what he did. He had a gift of casting out evil spirits. The Holy Ghost hadn't come in those days, so he cast them out by music, playing the words of the Lord. "The Lord is my shepherd; I shall not want. He maketh me to lie down in green pastures: he leadeth me beside still waters." And it disturbed the evil spirits so much that they left Saul.
E-20 Shame on you people don't believe in string music. No wonder, evil spirits never like it. They have to get away. David cast out devils by playing on his string instrument. That's what the Scripture says. That's right. And when David would begin to play, the evil spirit would leave Saul. Is that right?

When you say "little Ricky," you mean, "little rat." What you call him, that's what he is. Your kid is named that, change it quickly, for the sake of the Gospel. Don't name a kid...
You never heard such names as that back in the Bible, or in any other age. It's the age, name for this age. There ever was perverted rats and cats, it's there.

157 Notice, religious, though, oh, sure, go right to church and stand in the vestibule, with listening to boogie-woogie.
158 Also, notice, Christ's Word-Bride is heading up, also (two separate groups with two different war cry songs). As we see where the antichrist is heading, begin back there and now coming to a head; a ecumenical council will put it to an ecclesiastical head. And the little Church that's come along, also, Christ's Word-Bride down through the age, is coming to a Head, 'cause She's going to be united back to Its Mate.
**David’s Holy Ghost inspired music upset the evil spirit that was on Saul and caused it to leave him.
Demonic Rock and roll inspired music caused the spirit that was in brother Branham to become upset.
***Each sides Music is like a pre-battle war song to the other side, they are written and designed to upset the spirits of each other’s enemies.
***So the music your spirit agrees with is the side of the war that you are associated with.
If you love the devil inspired rock and pop music of the world, then you need to change your battle song quickly because you are associated with the wrong side – the losing side, but if you Love the old songs of Zion, then that is also the side and the group that you are associated with.
That is why Satan tries so hard to get everyone to join up with and sing the music of his battle cries, because that automatically puts them by association on his team.

29 There is so many entertaining things of our days. There's so much to entice people to what we would call pleasures, and it's for all peoples and all ages.
There are the enticements for the young people: the modern dances, and the rock-and-roll parties, and the music that they have that goes with it. And it's all enticing, for entertainment.
I don't care how good a home a child has been brought up in, and how it's been taught to do right; if that child hasn't accepted the experience of the new birth, rock-and-roll music catches his attention just as quick as he hears it. Because in him is born in him by nature, a carnal spirit. And the power of the devil is so great today, till it catches that spirit of that little one.
32 And how much more will it do to the old then, that has rejected the new birth. Because only as your life is changed, and you've been converted and born anew into the Kingdom of God; your nature will still be of the things of the world, no matter how religious you are, unless that has been changed in you. You could worship and be religious, but still that will have some kind of a drawing power to you, because the old man of sin and his desires is not dead in you yet.
But once let Christ take the throne in your heart, those things don't bother him; It is so much greater.
34 I cannot mention the man's name, 'cause I can't think of his name now, but many of you will remember him. They say there was an island where that the men would go in ambush, and the women would come out singing. And their songs were so tantalizing, that the sailors passing by in the ships, would come in, and then the ambush soldiers would--would catch the sailors off of guard, and slay them. And a certain great man wanted to pass by. And he had his sailors to tie him to a mast pole, and--and--and put something in his mouth, so he could not scream; and--and put plugs in his sailors' ears, so they could not hear and sail by to hear it. And the women came out, dancing, and--and screaming, and singing. And, oh, it was so great, till he turned the hide on his wrist, screaming to his sailors, "Turn in, turn in." But they couldn't hear him, they had plugs in their ears.
35 And then he sailed to a certain place where they was to unmask his, or untie his hands, and he was to take the plugs from their ears. And there, when walking on the street, he heard a musician that was so far supreme to that down there, that when he passed by again, they said, "Oh, great rover, shall we tie you to the mast pole again?"
He said, "No, just let me loose. I have heard something so much greater, till that'll never bother me no more."
That's the way it is to a borned again Christian. They've found something so much greater than the rock-and-roll's and the entertainments of this world. They are entertained by the Holy Spirit. And It's so much greater, till the world is dead to them.
